Blog # 7- Reality TV
The reality show that I watched was Kitchen Nightmares. This show is funny and serious at the same time. The reason I watch this show is because this British chef goes into restaurants that are doing bad, and yells and curses at them, and it's funny. This show has a lot of reality to it, because it deals with peoples lives and how they make a living. Having the British chef, Gordan Ramsey, yelling and screaming makes the show funny. There are a lot of other reality shows that are more entertaining, like Jersey Shore, but when that show was on this week, the college basketball tournament was on so I wasn't going to watch the stupid Jersey Shore over that haha. I think that this show is supposed to make the viewer feel bad for the restaurant owners, but for me I usually just laugh at them for how bad they are at running a business. The viewers are what makes all these reality shows keep going. Like the Jersey Shore has been on for 3 seasons now and it's because viewers find what they do entertaining. Me personally I would rather watch sports on TV instead of reality shows, but sometimes I do like to just watch some reality shows and laugh at all the things that happen during those shows.

Listening to Gordan Ramsey yell actually makes my blood pressure rise...and I'm at home...sitting on my couch...
ReplyDeleteWhat makes us love a show that elevates a belligerent, foul-mouthed cook into a superstar?
I never watched this show but I bet it is pretty good. I think anytime we see someone getting yelled and cursed out it is funny because it is not us.I mean if a chef went in there all nice and tried to help their restaurant with a nice good attitude viewers would lose interest immediately.
ReplyDeleteI've only seen this show a couple times, but I know the general idea of it. I think his accent plays into the comedy when he starts yelling and swearing in the restaurants. At least he is helping the owners in the end by turning their businesses around.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen this show but from the sounds of it it reminds me of this hair salon show my sister watches. This high up hair dresser reams everything about these small hair salons. When I watched that show I did think "Really? If they are that discusting and awfull then they deserve that screaming match."
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen this show but it reminds me of Undercover Boss. But the difference is that the Undercover Boss is just observing and then telling people what they do wrong in the end. This show actually just tells them up front and causes an uproar.
