Blog #6
I believe that we have lost some of our privacy. Their are ads that pop up on your facebook page, about things that you looked up when you weren't even logged into it. We do have privacy mostly in our lives, because we don't have cameras watching our every move. I'm sitting in my room right now and I don't think that there is a camera watching me, atleast I hope nobody is watching me haha. So, we have some privacy, but when we are on the internet we really don't have that much privacy. What we look up on the internet is kind of tracked. So, online we don't have that much privacy I don't think. I think that some people are willing to give up basic freedoms to feel safer. These days, I believe, people are always watching out for anything bad that can happen, so they would be willing to give up some basic freedoms to ensure their safety.

I can 100% agree. I hate surfing the internet actually for that reason!
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm sitting in my room right now and I hope I'm not being watched! But about being online, there are certain programs that claim to block tracking and privacy infringements, but who knows if they actually work like they are suppose to or actually doing the tracking.
ReplyDeleteI agree with how everything you look up stays with you. I bought hockey tickets on ticketmaster and at the end it said how many of my facebook friends were going and I wasn't even logged in..so that was weird. I don't think anyone watched us 24/7 I think we lost some of our privacy but not to the extreme of 1984
ReplyDeleteCan't argue that the internet is the main source for our loss of privacy. Most people don't really consider what they're putting up before they do it....including myself haha.
ReplyDeleteI like this idea of not having as much privacy online as we may think. It sounds silly, because of course we don't have privacy on the WORLD WIDE web. However, because we mostly surf the internet in the privacy of our own homes, sometimes we forget the surveillance capabilities of the internet.
